Olympique Marseille – Arsenal
I am back again with a value bet. Why? Read my preview thru. I guess the most interesting duel is from the group F between Marseille and Arsenal. These two teams were also in the same group two years ago, the first leg played in France and then Arsenal won with 1-0. Group F with Arsenal, Dortmund, Marseille and Napoli is the toughest group for sure. You must perform well and collect as much points as possible if you want to qualify to the next phase. Arsenal has managed to reach the final 16 for 13 years in a row, so they know how important and how to deal these tough groups.
Marseille had started well their season French Ligue 1 with three narrow win. But then came the derby against Monaco, and they lost at home. That defeat has obviously left a mark on their confidence, so in the next game day the gained one point against the still winless Toulouse. I am expecting that the team should remain unchanged, maybe Ayew join to the first eleven. On the other hand, a great responsibility in this duel lies on their two defensive midfielders, Romao and Imbuli where the Arsenal has the most quality. Marseille has a near-fully fit squad, only the centre-back Souleymane Diawara will miss the game.
I don’t think that I have to waste a lot of words on Arsenal’s quality. They defeated one the first match day against Aston Villa at home after they peg back with five constant win. Arsenal will enter the match with confidence, though, they are on the top of the Premier League table. New signing Mesut Ozil will make his Champions League debut for the club and, after impressing on debut on Saturday, it would not surprise to see him star again. The away team will head into the game with a host of injuries: Oxlade-Chamberlain, Santi Cazorla and Arteta probably will miss the game. Podolski, Sanogo, Rosicky and Diaby are expected to be unavailable.
Arsene Wenger is an experienced manager and he told the Arsenal’s official website the following: "The most important thing in the Champions League is to start well."
I agree and I expect and bet on that they will beat Marseille in France
